“When temperatures drop and you fire up the furnace for winter, it seems there’s always a corner of the house—or maybe an entire room—that never gets quite warm enough. Rather than overheat the rest of the house, you might plug in a portable electric heater to cozy up the space. The versatile units can be effective, energy-efficient tools to help keep things comfortable until spring. But, they’re also a known fire risk. According to the National Fire Prevention Association, in a recent five-year period, portable heaters accounted for one-third of home heating fires, with half of all such fires occurring during the months of December, January and February.”

OMG Facts meantime featured a portable heater that according to the website, perfect for someone who is always feeling cold. A/C And HVAC
“The Egloo uses just three tea light candles to produce heat for spaces up to 200 square feet—and it heats up in just five minutes! The clever gadget boasts five hours of warmth per refill and even continues to disperse heat after the candles burn out. And setting the Egloo up definitely takes less time than fiddling with the thermostat. Simply place three tea lights in the base, then cover ’em up with the metal grill and two domes. Stored heat from inside is slowly and steadily released up through the top of the outer dome, so you’ll feel warm and toasty in no time.”
